Elizabeth "Betty" Barrett is the show's titular protagonist. She is voiced by actress and singer Tajja Isen.
On her home planet Earth, to most of her friends and family, Betty Barrett is an average 7th-grade middle school student who is highly athletic and loves every single sport that she tries, especially ice hockey and ice skating. She even enjoys singing in her band.
Socializing
She enjoys visiting her grandmother Bea on her farm, which is located outside of Moose Jaw Heights, singing with her friends in her band, joking off, hanging out with her best friends and daydreaming about living in outer space. She is not afraid to speak her mind on any subject, and she dislikes all forms of bullying, snobbery and unfairness.
Job
Whenever there is trouble in outer space, she is called on by her commanding officer, Admiral DeGill, and along with her crew, is the captain of her own star cruiser under her secret identity of Atomic Betty, who is considered throughout the galaxy as a well-known and quite famous Galactic Guardian and the Defender of the Cosmos.
In outer space, she and her crew, a food-loving, green-skinned alien named Sparky and a robot named X-5, investigate various intergalactic crimes and fight evil super villains. An expert hand-to-hand fighter, kick boxer, an expert in karate, Betty can easily defend herself against most of her opponents, but is also equipped with a special Galactic Guardian-issued utility bracelet, which houses other technological devices, such as a holographic communicator she uses to speak to Admiral DeGill and her crew, remote controls for her star cruiser and its teleporter, as well as an arsenal of gadgetry and weaponry to use on her missions.
Origins
Throughout the first season of the show, Betty thinks that she is the only human ever to be chosen to be a Galactic Guardian, until she discovers that her grandmother was a retired Galactic Guardian named Beatrixo, as well as one of the first Galactic Guardians.
Appearance
Betty is a Canadian girl with fair skin, long red hair with straight bangs, and lime-green eyes. She usually styles her hair in a ponytail, although when wearing certain outfits, such as her swimwear or winter coat, she lets her hair down, revealing that it is waist-length. She used to style her hair in pigtails in the past as her hair was still short at the time.
As a civilian on Earth, her usual outfit consists of a white long-sleeved collared shirt, which is worn underneath a yellow V-neck long-sleeve sweater with green stripes on the sleeves and a green line on the V-neck. She also wears a green knee-length skirt, white socks, and black and white tennis shoes. She also wears a green headband for her hair.
At night, her bedtime outfit consists of a pink nightgown with long sleeves, frills decorating the collar and wrists, and pink slippers. She also wears a pink headband for her hair.
When going for a dip, she wears a pink and white-striped bathing suit, although a swimcap and goggles might be optional.
When on a Galactic Guardian mission, she wears her standard Galactic Guardian uniform, which consists of a white headdress, a pink dress, white gloves, a white belt with an atom symbol, and white thigh-high go-go boots. She also wears red lipstick.
As an older teen (future self) in The Future is Now, she is much taller and has a rather mature body build. Her hair is worn loose and slightly longer reaching past her waist, ending in a flip along with styled bangs. She wears an altered version of her Galactic Guardian uniform with her dress being a two piece consisting of a sleeveless top and mini skirt. Her eyes are somewhat smaller and she retains her red lipstick.
Personality
Betty is a very smart, joyful, funny, strong-willed, tough, pleasant and a very independent young girl with highly eccentric interests and is not afraid to speak her mind on any subject. She also has a bit of a temper, and can get easily annoyed, most often by her rival Penelope Lang.
On Earth, she likes playing pranks, listening to music, reading her sci-fi comics, popping an Ollie on her skateboard, hanging with her best friends Noah and Paloma, and daydreaming about her crush, Dylan.
In space, she loves protecting the galaxy with her gang, flying in her star cruiser and fighting treacherous galactic supervillains.
Abilities
Betty does not possess any superpowers, but she is exceptionally strong and agile for someone her age and size. She is an impressively tough fighter and has a good knowledge of galactic combat techniques, as she's been seen being able to take down much larger alien opponents with one punch or kick. She is also wielding a laser sword as shown in "The Trouble with Triplets". She is also a very capable Galactic Guardian captain and a very good leader, though at times she can be a bit bossy to her crew. She has also shown exceptional prowess in nearly all sports, including skateboarding, surfing, swimming, and roller blading.
She is shown to have some slight mystical abilities in the episode " Spindly Tam Kanushu", where she uses a special meditation technique to locate the exact planet that her alien martial arts master, Spindly Tam Kanushu, has been taken to by Maximus.

Trivia
- Betty is not a very good detective because she saw some clues of her grandmother Beatrixo being a Galactic Guardian and her friend Paloma being an alien, but she dismissed them due to the fact that most people on Earth do not believe aliens are real.
- Betty possibly gets her red hair from her grandmother as Beatrixo has been shown with red hair in her younger years.
- Additionally, younger Beatrixo bears a resemblance to Betty's future self from 2013.
- In Season 1, Betty has a nasally high, "child" voice. This might be because Tajja Isen began voicing Betty when she was 12-13 years old. However, she also performed numerous tunes in voice recording.
- Betty was originally supposed to be 8-9 years old according to concept art. Due to this, it is possible that Teenage Betty will be 13-14 should her original age is kept.
- In the episode License DeGill, Betty is seen kissing Noah, which indicates she might have a crush on him.
