Spindly Tam Kanushu (Len Carlson) is Betty's martial arts trainer and sensei, whom she greatly respected as both a mentor and a friend. In general, Betty was dedicated to her master and rarely argued with his wisdom, no matter how eccentric it might have seemed to her. Highly venerated for his wisdom, knowledge, and experience, known as one of the greatest Kung Fu masters in the galaxy, no one reputation surpassed his. His first appearance was in the episode "Spindly Tam Kanushu", in which Maximus kidnapped him in order to teach his Morbidian Blood Monks his Martial Arts knowledge, but instead, he secretly taught them to be dancers. He then made small guest appearances in the episodes "Best (Mis) Laid Plans", "The Revenge of Masticula" and "Dr Cerebral And The Stupifactor Ray". In "Case of the Missing Kanushu", he is kidnapped by his evil student named Koreena.
The most notable trait about Spindly Tam is that he is very relaxed in serious situations, most likely due to his skill and strong faith in others.
Even though he's aged, his skills are still reckoned as the greatest in the galaxy. Apparently, he favored primarily empty handed techniques, as his proteges rarely use weapons beyond simple staffs or the equivalent.
Though at times he could seem senile, Spindly Tam is incredibly wise and knowledgeable, and gives great advice whenever necessary, using strong and witty metaphors to emphasize his points.
Trivia[]
- After Carlson's death on early 2006, Dwayne Hill now became the new voice of Spindly Tam Kanushu, along with Minimus P.U. and B-1 on the final season subtitled Mission: Earth (similar to Atomic Roger and Dodger).
